CHRIST CHURCH
"Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. "Matthews 16:18

Heading 1
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in the Holy Scriptures. We accept the verbal (very words) and plenary (total and complete) inspiration of the writings of the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is inerrant (without error) in the original manuscripts and the complete and final authority for all matters of faith (orthodoxy) and practice (orthopraxy). (2 Tim 3: 16-17; 2 Pet. 1:19-20).
We believe in One God. This One True God has revealed Himself in three distinct Persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit, yet one in being, essence and glory. God is eternal, infinite and sovereign. (Gen 1:1, 26; Deut. 6:4, 32:4; John 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor. 13:14).
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity, the Eternal Word and only Begotten Son. He is God and took on human flesh in order to redeem men and women who place their faith in Him, believing Him to be the Son of God. (Matt 1:20; Luke 2:26-28; John 1:1-2; 1 John 2:2, 5:20; 2 Pet. 3:9; 1 Tim 2:4-6, 4:10).
We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and the judgment to come as well as regenerates, indwells and seals all who come to God through faith in Jesus Christ. (Neh. 9:20; Psalm 143:10; Isa. 63:11; Luke 11:13; John 14:16-17; Acts 5:3-4; Rom. 8:14-27; 2 Cor 13:14).
We believe in the existence of Angels and Satan. We believe in the reality and personality of angels. We believe that God created the angels to be His servants and messengers. We believe in the existence and personality of Satan and demons. Satan is a fallen angel who led a group of angels in rebellion against God. He is the great enemy of God and man and the demons are his servants in evil. He and his demons will be eternally punished in the lake of fire. (Neh. 9:6; Ps. 148:2; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ez. 28:12-19; Matt. 25:41; Eph. 6:12; Heb. 1:14; 1 Pet. 5:8; Rev. 12:9, 20:10).
We believe that all men are born with a sin nature. We believe that humanity came into existence by direct creation of God and that humanity is uniquely made in the image and likeness of God. We believe that all humanity, because of Adam's fall, has inherited a sinful nature, that all human beings choose to sin and that the wages or penalty of sin is eternal death. Humanity, apart from God, is unable to remedy this fallen state. (Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:19, 23, 6:23; Gal. 3:22; Eph. 2:1-5, 12).
We believe in salvation by grace through faith. Salvation is the free gift of God, neither merited or secured in part or whole by any virtue or work of man. It is only received by faith in Jesus Christ believing Him to be the Son of God. Apart from faith in Jesus Christ there is no salvation for humankind. We believe in righteous living and godly works not as a means of salvation, but as proper evidence and fruit of the Holy Spirit’s residence in the believer. (Matt 28:19-20; John 16:8; Acts 3:19, 4:12, 20:21; Rom 3:23, 10:9-10, 13; 2 Cor. 5:21, 7:9-10; Eph. 2:8-10, 3:5-6; Titus 2:11-14).
We believe in the Genesis account of creation. Creation was a literal six-day event and that man is the result of direct creation by God. (Gen. 1-2; Ex. 20:11; John 1: 3; Col. 1: 16-17).
We believe that God established marriage. Marriage as established by God is a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one biologically born and presenting male and one biologically born and presenting female and that all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual or otherwise, is sin. We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender or gender preference other than one’s birth transgresses God’s law as set forth in Scripture. (Gen. 1:27, 2:24-25; Ex. 20:14, 17, 22:19; Lev. 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Deut. 22:5; Matt. 19:4-6, 9, 12; Rom. 1:18-31; 1 Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20; 1 Tim. 1:8-11; Jude 7).
We believe in the blessed hope, the personal and imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the visible and bodily return of Christ to the earth with His saints to establish His promised millennial kingdom. We believe in the physical resurrection of all human beings—the saints to everlasting joy and bliss on the new earth and the wicked to eternal punishment in the lake of fire. Zech. 14:4-11; Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29, 14:1-6; Acts 1:11; 1 Cor. 15:51-58; 1 Thess. 3:13, 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10, 19:11-16, 20:1-6, 12-13).
We believe in future life, bodily resurrection and eternal judgment. There is a future life, bodily resurrection for all, with some to eternal life with Christ and some to eternal life in hell. (Luke 16: 19-31; John 14: 1-6; 2 Cor 5: 10; Phil. 3: 20-21; 1 Thess. 4: 14-17; Rev. 20: 11-15).
We believe in the priesthood of all believers. Jesus Christ is our Great High Priest and that every born-again believer has personal access to God through Him. (Heb. 8-9; 1 Pet. 2:5-9).
We believe that Jesus Christ, alone, is the head of the church, the Body of Christ, of which all believers are members. We believe in the importance of the local church comprised of born-again and baptized believers. (Matt. 23:10, 26:26-30, 28:19-20; Acts 2: 41, 4:32; 1 Cor. 11: 3).
We believe there are two ordinances given to the local church, consisting of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion). Baptism is by immersion and practiced by believers who have affirmed their faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him in obedience. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the shed blood and broken body of Jesus Christ until His return. The Lord’s Supper is open to all who affirm their faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. (Matt. 3: 13-17, 26:26-30, 28:19-20; Acts 2:41; 1 Cor. 11:23-32).
We believe in the great commission. We believe in the great commission as given in Scripture as authorized by Jesus Christ Himself. (Matt. 9:36-38, 28:19-20; John 3:16; Acts 1:8; Eph. 4:12-16).
